Site Clearance for Future Southeast Police Station

Fresno, Ca. (March 27, 2007)   In an area of Fresno known for high crime, there is a public\private partnership revitalization project planned between the Redevelopment Agency (RDA), City of Fresnos Police Department and Kings Canyon LLC. The site, located on the south side of Kings Canyon between Backer and Maple, was identified by the Police Department as a desirable location for a new station-due to several factors  including its visibility and convenient access to both the general public and department staff; and, its proximity to several high crime neighborhoods that would benefit from the station. The site of 1.01 acres, acquired by the Fresno Redevelopment Agency began site clearance, performed by Lee Crippen Excavation, March 28th. The proposed 13,500 square foot two-story Police Station is expected to meet the Department's growth needs to 2025. “This much needed project will help put this once blighted neighborhood on a road to redevelopment and healthy growth,” says Marlene Murphey, Executive Director, RDA.
