UPTOWN DEVELOPMENT

The Agency completed $1.5 million of streetscape beautification and improvements in the Fulton Project Area in September 2004. The street improvements along Van Ness between Calaveras and Tuolumne initiated implementation of the Master Plan for the Uptown Cultural Arts and Entertainment District.

$2.5 million in landscaping & parking improvements that were started fall 2002 have now been completed.

UPTOWN PLAN

The Uptown Program provided for blight removal, streetscape improvements, parking, infill housing in the historic "L" Street area to Divisadero and expansion for the museums and other facilities. In addition, the program has assisted the Uptown area with creating of a "Sense of Place", an aesthetically appealing setting for enjoyment of our rich cultural heritage.

Working with the Uptown Committee, the planning firms of
RTKL and RRM have completed detailed master plans for this
16 block area.
